NYC Holiday Lights – The City’s Best and Brightest
There is nothing better than strolling through New York City after dark during the holidays. This year, the window displays run through January 2, 2017, hope you can catch a glimpse!
My personal favorites this year:
Bergdorf Goodman – 754 Fifth Ave.
Always known for its sleek and high fashion windows, Bergdorf Goodman’s 2016 Destination Extraordinary theme doesn’t disappoint with its lush emerald forests and extraordinary whimsical gardens.
Lord & Taylor – 424 Fifth Ave.
Thousands of tiny white lights flock the overhead awnings of the Lord & Taylor’s storefront, which creates the perfect backdrop for this year’s Enchanted Forest themed windows featuring snowy scenes and a host of larger-than-life mechanical woodland creatures.
Macy’s – 151 West 34th St.
Simply entitled Believe, Macy’s windows are dedicated to the fundamental tenets that exemplify the spirit of holiday season – believe, celebrate, together, giving, love, magic. Passersby of all ages will be overcome with wide-eyed wonderment and heartwarming nostalgia. Yes, Virginia…
Bloomingdale’s – 1000 Third Ave.
Bloomingdales’s commissioned a group of artists to design Light, an illuminated and visually stunning display of eight spectacular one-of-a-kind chandeliers. An online auction featuring the works will close December 20 and the proceeds will be donated to The Child Mind Institute, which offers assistance to children and families battling mental health and learning disorders.
Tiffany & Co – 727 5th Ave.
This year’s theme captures the beauty and essence of NYC’s most iconic landmarks brought to life by bejeweled backdrops and shimmering scenery presented in Tiffany & Co’s signature color palette.
Henri Bendel – 712 5th Ave.
All we need is love. This year, Henri Bendel commissioned revered artist and fashion photographer James Goldcrown to spread a little love on his windows. From Bendel with Love features a four story Love Wall, amassed with simple, colorful hearts. Goldcrown is most known for his Bleeding Hearts/Love Wall murals in NYC, Miami, Chicago, California and Texas.
Saks Fifth Avenue – 611 5th Ave.
Sink your sweet tooth into the Land of 1000 Delights, a magical, fantastical world full of sugary treats and colorful confectionaries. Be sure to visit after dark to enjoy the dazzling five-story light show, which plays daily every 10 minutes between 5 and 11 p.m.
Barney’s – 660 Madison Ave.
This year, Barney’s teamed up with renowned artists to present its 2016 theme, the Love Peace Joy Project. Representing a wide range of styles, the artists’ unique interpretations of the theme are full of emotion, color and individuality. Barney’s also established #LovePeaceJoyProject to further promote social interaction and encourage charitable giving.
